niomi klien NO LOGO

NO LOGO was a very interesting book however it was upsetting to read and scary to realise the extent that which advertising is ingrained within modern society. i enjoyed learning about the techniques of advertisers and i now feel like that i am less susceptible
to their sneaky games and tricks; although it will still probably work as i am only human.
WHAT I FOUND MOST DISTRESSING was the marketing of the idea of 'cool' to kids and teenagers across the world. forcing parents to stretch their wallets to allow their children to fit into the labels everyone is wearing at school. I can relate to this so much and remember saving my money for a pair on NIKE trainers. I feel like this evil marketing belittles kids, supports playground bullying, youth depression and distracts from the true purpose of school; to get an education.
